Time to renew

By Shawn Sheridan, 9 December 2010

Per OutSport Toronto's bylaws, every year we ask our member organisations to renew their membership.  There's a couple of good reasons why we do this:

  1. We want to make sure we have up-to-date contact and other information about our member organisations.  We keep a database of information on our members that helps us fulfil our mission around networking, liaison, learning, and advocacy.
  2. We like member organisations to think about who their nominee should be to OutSport Toronto every year, providing an opportunity for a variety of people within their own organisation to be involved and represent their organisation.
  3. In order to avoid a costly annual audit, we ask reapplying members to at the same time waive their right to an audit for the fiscal year.  That saves us a great deal of money that can be put to better use elsewhere.  Note that our books and records are open to scrutiny by any of our member organisations should they wish to do so.

Our member organisations will be getting a notice shortly to renew their memberships in OutSport Toronto for the 2011 year.  If you are a member organisation, you can get a head start by simply completing the (re)application form found here.  Note that to vote at the annual general meeting to be held in the March 2011 timeframe, you will need to be a duly appointed nominee of a member organisation, whose (re)application form we have received by the end of February 2011.  And, membership in OutSport Toronto is still at no cost to LGBT sporting organisations.
