Volunteering

OUTSPORT TORONTO is looking for a Director of Communications and Public Relations.  This board-level volunteer position is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to have a meaningful impact on OUTSPORT TORONTO, its member organisations, and its stakeholders by ensuring that OUTSPORT TORONTO gets important messages and stories to the right audiences.

As Director of Cummunications and Public Relations, you will:

1. Chair of the Communications and Public Relations committee, including
   1. recruiting members for that committee;
   2. creating a communications and P.R. framework / plan;
   3. with the committee, and working with other committee chairs and their committees, planning communications around OUTSPORT TORONTO initiatives and events such as the SportZone and Pride Parade, and the Scrum, our annual conference;
   4. co-ordinating all the activities of the committee in realising the various plans;
   5. active participation and co-ordination during events; and
   6. conducting the post-mortem after various drives, and participating in the post-mortems of other initiatives where there was a communications and / or public relations element.
2. Reporting to the Board of Directors of OUTSPORT TORONTO on progress against plans.
3. Acting in all other ways as a director of OUTSPORT TORONTO, executing on stewardship and governance accountabilities per OUTSPORT TORONTO's bylaws and the Ontario Corporations Act.
4. Participating in any other committees as warranted.

Ideally you will be a member of a member organisation of OUTSPORT TORONTO, with a background in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.  You are a self-starter, and have sufficient time to commit to our working board.
